In honor of today’s holiday … and the fact that my office goes completely nuts for it … Friday’s Bits has been replaced with these images of Halloween cheer:

(I got these from Livejoural user jacksperhhrob.)
Happy Halloweeeeeeen everyone! :[

GAP is being extremely generous with their offer to me today. I had no idea they got so personal.

Time travel is definitely up there on my list of “Technological Things That Need to be Invented A.S.A.P.” Transporters have a stronghold on the No. 1 slot, however. Someone really needs to get on those.
Ever wondered what sort of mythological creature RoboCop would pal around with? Wonder no more.
Switching the heads of men and their babies using the magic of Photoshop sounds disturbing … but I couldn’t stop laughing when I looked at these pictures.
A guy on YouTube has decided to re-dub a couple of old music videos with lyrics that tell what’s actually happening in the video. They’re pretty awesome. I hope he does more.
Favorite part: “Is that Dave Coullier?” (Find more of these “literal” videos here.)
Another great video, having nothing at all to do with the one above:
You might not know this about me (and why would you?) but I really enjoy mashups and covers of songs. If they’re done well. I also like pop culture. Therefore, I enjoy mashups of movie trailers. See that math? Yeah, I’m awesome.
This weekend is the third annual Wonder Woman Day celebration in Portland. Yet another reason I need to move there.
And finally:

Beards FTW!
Excuse my language, but really:

Eggs on the table.

Eggs in the “Prom photo.”

Eggs while making one of the cutest faces I’ve ever seen on a hungry vampire.
(And Jasper is totally lurking in the background!)
Now, before you go getting all snippy, I realize that all of these pictures are of the same day. But, THE GUY DOESN’T EAT HUMAN FOOD. An apple? Fine. A piece of pizza? Ok. But a gallon-size Ziploc full of hard-boiled (?) eggs?
Is he trying to keep up a ‘roid head persona?
T-minus 30 days!

One of my favorite pop culture blogs, Has Boobs, Reads Comics, has information and links to a bunch of newly released stills from the upcoming J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie.
I had to include this one:

Because Simon Pigg is totally pulling a Spaced/Shawn of the Dead/Hot Fuzz face in the background. *giggle*
And then this one:

Gotta love those pre-TNG women’s uniforms.
Harry Potter Yarn. Neat right? Um … the first three are all right, but then it pretty much goes to crap. I would have totally pictured Dumbledore as a royal purple, not … whatever that combination is.
Also from Has Boobs:
That makes me sad. Terrence Howard was great. I totally got all fangirly when he was eying the Warhammer prototype.
Robert Pattinson’s hair is the next Chuck Norris. No joke.
I may not have mentioned this, but I really (REALLY) want to be friends with the cast of Twilight. Particularly Kellan Lutz, who says things like:
I haven’t read these yet, but I didn’t mind The Clone Wars movie as much as I thought I would. Does it mean I’m getting soft in my old age? Nah, I’ve just learned to set my bar low when it comes to anything Lucas.
(Issue #4 is written by Katie Cook, and I love her style.)
I know that’s a pretty lame excuse for a Friday’s Bits, but I have to go spend most of my day in THE WORLD’S LONGEST MEETING. For serious guys, I won’t get out until I’m married and have three kids, one of which who’s a college freshman. I’ll try harder next week.
P.S. – Remember to go visit *Jasper Lurks*. I’ve recently forayed into another level of nerdiness: fanfiction. You might enjoy it?
I want you to watch this video:
(See the non-acoustic version here.)
Then, I want you to read these lyrics:
The broken clock is a comfort
It helps me sleep tonight
Maybe it can stop tomorrow
From stealing all my time
And I am here still waiting
Though I still have my doubts
I am damaged at best
Like you’ve already figured out
I’m falling apart
I’m barely breathing
With a broken heart
That’s still beating
In the pain
There is healing
In your name
I find meaning
So I’m holding on (I’m holdin’ on) (I’m holdin’ on)
I’m barely holding on to you
The broken locks were a warning
You got inside my head
I tried my best to be guarded
I’m an open book instead
And I still see your reflection
Inside of my eyes
That are looking for purpose
They’re still looking for life
I’m falling apart
I’m barely breathing
With a broken heart
That’s still beating
In the pain (In the pain)
Is there healing
In your name
I find meaning
So I’m holding on (I’m still holdin’ on) (I’m holdin’ on)
(I’m still holdin’ on) (I’m holdin’ on)
I’m barely holding on to you
I’m hanging on another day
Just to see what, you will throw my way
And I’m hanging on, to the words you say
You said that I will, will be okay
The broken light on the freeway
Left me here alone
I may have lost my way now
But I haven’t forgotten my way home
I’m falling apart
I’m barely breathing
With a broken heart
That’s still beating
In the pain (In the pain)
There is healing
In your name (In your name)
I find meaning
So I’m holding on (I’m still holdin’) (I’m holdin’ on) (I’m still holdin’) (I’m holdin’ on) (I’m still holdin’)
Barely holding on to you (I’m still holdin’ on)
Barely holding on to you
For those of you who’ve read New Moon … is this not perfect for Bella’s POV?
If a trailer can make my heart beat faster, I think they’re going to have to carry me out of the theater in a bucket, as I’m going to be completely melted.
(I have to spend the day bonding with co-workers. Friday’s Bits will return next week.)

Before I delve into the wonders of the most recent craft-swap I was involved in, I want to talk to you a minute about a term I’ve decided needs to become more commonplace. Driving to work this morning, I was continually stuck in the slow lane, no matter which one I chose to move in to. It was all very Office Space, and so, I decided I was being Office Spaced. Office Spaced can not only refer to crap traffic patterns, but can also refer to being forced to come into your job on a Saturday, or being asked to perform a meaningless, trivial task (like completing a TPS report). Urban Dictionary refers to “Office Spaced” as what an electronic device has just experienced after being beaten with a baseball bat in the middle of a field, but I think it should be expanded to refer to much, much more.
*Gets down off soapbox.*
Here’s what I made for the Twilight Series Swap, Round 4, which I organized over at Craftster.org:
A group shot:

The front of the shirt:

The back:

Four picture frames, each one featuring the cover image of and a quote from the four books:

(From L-R, T-B: Twilight, “And so the lion fell in love with the lamb …”; New Moon, “Time Passes. Even when it seems impossible …”; Eclipse, “The clouds I can handle …”; and BD, “Forever and forever and forever …”)
A set of Twilight-themed pins (I’m thinking of making more of these and selling them along with my Bella’s Bracelets on Etsy …):

A coin purse:

And a Bella’s Bracelet:

I haven’t yet received from my partner, but am certainly looking forward to it. I will update this post once I’ve recieved.
ETA: I recieved!

A great card. I love chandeliers. Particularly stenciled ones.

A pretty necklace with interchangeable resin Twilight charms. One each of the four book covers and one of E&B.

Two neat plaques with two of my favorite quotes on them, and a great picture frame with another awesome quote.
And the Piece de Resistance:

An awesome Alice bag!
Group shot:

My good friend Socks (not her real name) and I recently started up a blog on which to keep our extremely funny (to us) takes on updating Growing Up Cullen and our forays into the world of Twilight fanfic.
So far, we’ve posted a couple GUC updates and Socks has posted the first two chapters of her first fanfic, A Constant Craving, which I happily beta’ed.
Check it out! Prepare to be dazzled …
A teaser:
P: Edward likes to play The Sims
And create little Sims of himself and Bella, being the happy couple
S: but secretly, he whines about it in his journal
DEAR DIARY, HOW I LONG FOR THE SIMS TO BE REAL! HOW I WISH I WASN’T A GENETIC DEAD END AND BELLA AND I COULD HAVE A FAMILY!
And then, true to form, Emmett finds it and ‘defiles’ it
P: He gets the Sims Date expansion pack and the next time Edward logs in, everyone is going at it like rabbits.
I just read the “official” track listing for the Twilight soundtrack on StephenieMeyer.com:
We are excited that we’ve been given the exclusive track list announcement for the Twilight soundtrack
(in stores November 4th). We can also confirm that every song listed below will also be featured IN the Twilight movie. The soundtrack has exclusive songs written specifically for the movie from Paramore and Perry Ferrell. The Twilight soundtrack also features two songs from Robert Pattinson—this is the first time Rob has recorded or released music. And, of course, no Twilight project would be complete without Muse.
And the tracks:
- Muse—Supermassive Black Hole
- Paramore—Decode
- The Black Ghosts—Full Moon (You can hear a snippet on iTunes …)
- Linkin Park—Leave Out All The Rest
- MuteMath—Spotlight (Twilight Mix)
- Perry Farrell—Going All The Way (Into The Twilight)
- Collective Soul—Tremble For My Beloved
- Paramore—I Caught Myself
- Blue Foundation—Eyes On Fire
- Rob Pattinson—Never Think
- Iron & Wine—Flightless Bird, American Mouth
- Carter Burwell—Bella’s Lullaby
(The linked songs are the ones I could find online. I’ll try to update later if I find more.)
No Blue October? Not that I’m complaining, since I don’t like them, but I’m very surprised that they’re not on the soundtrack, after the whole BD concert series and all. Also, um, there is only one RPatzzzzz song on that listing, and the paragraph attached to the listing says there will be two?
